The members of Let's Go Fishing With Seniors would like to use this as a memorial page for those who have touched our hearts in so many special ways


Peter J. Lotti, age 57 of Grand Rapids, MN, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Peter was born in 1956 to Albert and Veloria Lotti in Hibbing, MN. He graduated from Greenway High School and Hibbing Community College. Peter also graduated with a B.S. in Applied Science at U.M.D. and a Master’s Degree of Industrial Safety at U.M.D.

He was united in marriage to Leneve “Ski” Radolinski on July 17, 2003 on Deer Lake and they made their home in Grand Rapids. Peter and Ski started Lotti’s Verde Acres (Senior Care).

Preceding him in death were his parents. Peter is survived by his wife, Leneve “Ski”; daughter, Chelsea (Rob); son, Steven; grandchildren, Mia, Dylan and Kiera; brothers, Bruce and David; and nephew, Anthony.

Marlene Sue Schaefer, age 61, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed on to the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at her home after a six-year battle with cancer.

Marlene was born in 1951 to Ray and Betty Jones. She was the youngest of eight children and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1969. She was united in marriage to Keith Erholtz in 1971 and was a house wife and raised three children. She also worked as a home health aide. Marlene later went back to college and earned a teaching degree from Bemidji State University. She substitute taught in the area for several years and worked as an Early Head Start teacher. She married Ron Schaefer on January 19, 2008. They made their home in Pengilly and Grand Rapids. She was an active member of the Grand Rapids Alliance Church. Marlene was head of the Fellowship Committee, served on the Diaconate Committee and taught Sunday School for many years. Marlene and her husband Ron were avid volunteers for Let's Go Fishing With Seniors Itasca Chapter.


She was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; her children, K. Andrew (Sarah Joy) Erholtz, Leif Erholtz and Ali (Chad Grotberg); step-son, Jerry (Becky) Schaefer; five brothers, Dick, Allen (Joanne) Bert, Jerel (Jane) and Dean (Sherry) Jones; two sisters, Diane (Gordon) Hansen and Barb (Rick) Guertin; many nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren, Alyssa, Hanna, Grace, Joy, Elsie and Knowles.



David R. Nobs, age 67, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, died suddenly Monday, June 18, 2012, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He had been diagnosed with cancer just four days earlier.

Dave was born in Pipestone, Minnesota, on July 5, 1944, to Donald and Marie Nobs. Dave graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1962 and from Itasca Junior College in 1966. He was married to Paula Hritz in Grand Rapids in 1966. Dave served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He worked for Qwest Communications until his retirement in 2001.

Dave thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending lots of time fishing and hunting, enjoying family and friends, and working with local youth as a Youth Firearms Safety Instructor and with the youth day activities at the Deer River Sportsmans Club. He was active in the Grand Rapids Gun Club, Optimists Club, Ducks Unlimited and T.I.P. Dave is survived by his wife Paula, daughter Sherri of Grand Rapids, son Bryan (Kristin), and his two very special grandchildren, Adam and Annika of Mound, MN. Also surviving Dave are his sister Joan (Martin) Krulc, Aurora, MN, his mother-in-law Ella Mae (Ray) Kisslinger, brother-in-law Tom (Dee) Hritz of Buford, GA, sister-in-law Becky (Tom) Markwardt, Grand Rapids, MN, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, several cousins and many dear and wonderful friends.




Loren “Bart” James Bartels, age 76 of Swatara, Minn., died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Grand Village and Lodge in Grand Rapids, Minn.

Loren was born in 1933 to Orville and Josephine Bartels in Jamestown, N.D. He grew up and attended schools in Cohasset and graduated from Grand Rapids High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a construction foreman and superintendent for many years for several of the large construction companies in the Twin Cities. With his former wife June, they raised the five children in Blaine, Minn. Following his retirement, Loren moved to the Hill City area where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Loren was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Grand Rapids and was active with starting the “Let’s Go Fishing” chapter for seniors in Grand Rapids. Loren worked hard for our organization when it was in its first stages. "Bart" helped at the fish fries and at shows. "Bart" went to Duluth with Joe Holm to help him with a show there at the DECC. "Bart" co captained a couple of times during our first summer.  Loren “Bart” James Bartels will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
